Situation
Businesses tend to accumulate security and performance vulnerabilities in their IT infrastructure over a period of time. A large number are caused by not keeping up-to-date with security patches for Operating Systems, servers, security updates on firewalls, and so on.
Manish Goklaney, Director at Indicium explains: "Manassen needed to conduct a Security Vulnerability Assessment focussing on their server, storage, switches, routers and firewalls. To stay in control of their environment they had to perform the checks regularly and proactively, conducting the exercise discreetly to ensure validity of the information collected. Our Qualys vulnerability scanning tool was the perfect fit for this."
Solution
The Indicium engineers installed the scanning and data collection devices into the Manassen network, and commenced collecting data over a two-week period. The vulnerability assessment was conducted across 50 devices, including servers, switches, routers and firewalls.
Following the completion of the data collection phase, the Indicium engineers analysed and interpreted the data collected and reports provided by the Qualys tool. The information and risks identified were classified by as High, Medium or Low according to their severity. These were then presented and discussed with the Manassen IT management team.
Most importantly, the Indicium team provided Manassen’s management with a remediation report, identifying a range of prioritised activities and tasks to rectify the vulnerabilities that were discovered. The process was completed over a six-week period and successfully resolved all the agreed priority issues.
Benefits
Through Indicium’s implementation of the Qualys solution, Manassen were able to:
Ultimately, Indicium gave Manassen Foods the ability to quickly reduce the risk profile of their network and ensure the security of their systems and information.
