About your privacy

Here at Indicium we know your privacy is important. So we’re committed to protecting it, and to developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Statement of Privacy applies to the Indicium website and refers to how we collect and use data. Please note by using this website, you agree to the data practices described below.

Collecting your personal information

So that we know who we’re talking to, we sometimes collect personally identifiable information, such as your email address, name, home or work address or telephone number. Needless to say, we never give this information to anyone else, and if you don’t want us to contact you, ever, just let us know. (See below for more information about this.) And to help us understand the sort of people who are interested in our work, we also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favourites.

We also automatically collect some information about your computer hardware and software while you’re on our site. This can include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses. We use this information to maintain the quality of our service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Indicium website.

Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through Indicium public message boards, this information may be collected and used by other people. Note: we do not – and won’t ever - read any of your private online communications.

We encourage you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from our site, so that you can understand how they collect, use and share your information. Please note we’re not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on web sites outside of the Indicium and Indicium family of websites.

Using your personal information

The reason we collect your personal information is so that we can operate the Indicium website in the best way possible, and deliver any services you have requested. We might also inform you of other products or services available from Indicium and its affiliates from time to time, or contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of our services. If you would prefer we didn’t contact you at all, please let us know by emailing privacy@indicium.com.au. Needless to say, we would never sell, rent or lease our customer lists to third parties. We may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of an external business partner about a particular offering that we think may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (email, name, address, telephone number) is never transferred to the third party.

In addition, we may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Indicium, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information at all times.

We never use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.

To help us understand which Indicium services are the most popular, we also keep track of the pages our customers visit within our website. This data lets us deliver customised content and advertising to customers whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.

We will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Indicium or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Indicium; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Indicium, or the public.

Using cookies

A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a webpage server. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page.

For example, if you personalise Indicium pages, or register with Indicium site or services, a cookie helps us to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This just simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on.

When you return to the Indicium website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the features that you customised.

Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

The Indicium web site uses cookies to help you personalise your online experience. You can always accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. But remember if you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Indicium services or websites you visit.

Keeping your personal information secure

Here at Indicium we work hard to ensure your personal information is protected against unauthorised access, use or disclosure. We secure the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorised access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

Updating this statement

Occasionally we will update this Statement of Privacy to reflect company and customer feedback. We suggest you review this statement now and again, to keep informed of how we are protecting your information.

Talking to us about your privacy

We value your privacy and welcome your comments about it. If you believe that we have not adhered to this statement in any way, please contact us at privacy@indicium.com.au. We take all such feedback seriously and promise to use all commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and remedy any problem.
